The Best Cars to Drive Are The Ones You Can’t Afford

Nearly every driver will feel they want to drive a car they cannot afford, as that seems a natural ambition. It is human nature it seems to want what we haven’t got, and if we can’t afford what we haven’t got, then we want it even more.

Particularly people who get a lot of enjoyment from driving would jump at the chance to drive a Ferrari sports car, for example. This is because the name Ferrari evokes such emotion. People say that if they could have a Ferrari sports car they would have one that is painted in red, because that is a Ferrari colour.

When you watch motor racing, such as Formula One, the Ferrari racing cars are always red, as it seems a Ferrari wouldn’t be a Ferrari unless it was painted red. However, as we all know, Ferrari sports cars for the road can be bought in a number of different colours, so it doesn’t always have to be a red Ferrari.

Sports car, high performance cars and other fast cars will always capture the imagination of enthusiastic drivers, and even those who are less enthusiastic. But except for a small percentage who can afford to buy and run Ferrari sports cars, the rest of the drivers will need something more practical.

Ford Focus Will Provide Economy

For a family with a couple of children a car like the Ford Focus will be ideal. You can buy a red Ford Focus if you like and this is a standard colour. A Ford Focus, especially if it has a diesel engine, will be very economical to drive and the fuel consumption will be quite low.

A red Ford Focus will be easy to see as the colour will show up well on a dull day. But how often do you see a red Ford Focus, because they are not that common. It seems nowadays that silver is the new red, because a few years ago it would be quite common to see a red Ford Focus, now it is silver that is more common.

Ford Focus ST

Whilst a Ford Focus with a diesel engine will give excellent economy, and a diesel Ford Focus will give excellent performance we well, some people will prefer to buy a sports version of the car and that will be the Ford Focus ST. This Ford Focus has a five–cylinder engine and is turbo charged, which means it is a very fast version of the Ford Focus indeed.

Don’t expect to get good fuel economy from a Ford Focus ST, as that will not be the case. Drive this car hard and it will drink petrol very quickly, even if it is a red Ford Focus ST.

Volkswagen Golf

If a red Ford Focus ST is not for you, what about a blue Volkswagen Golf? Having gained a reputation for being reliable and sturdy, the Volkswagen Golf has a long history for being seen as a trustworthy type of car to buy. There are sporty versions of the Volkswagen Golf too, and the name Volkswagen Golf GTI is perhaps the most famous Volkswagen Golf of them all.

Volkswagen Golf VR32

There is the Volkswagen Golf VR32, which is a very powerful and fast car, so with this version you can have high performance as well as a family car in which to drive the wife and children. If you are more inclined towards choosing a car for economy then you can get the Volkswagen Golf with a diesel engine, which gives very good miles per gallon.
